Released three years after his departure from Black Sabbath and his second offering as a soloist Diary of a Madman finally saw Ozzy break through as a totally separate entity from his Sabbath days and produce a real master piece worthy of gracing any rock fans collection. Teaming up again with the awesome Randy Rhoads the two fuelled the appetite of fans hungry for more of the same diet served up to them In the Blizzard of Oz album which preceded this.

They didn’t disappoint with a strong line up of tracks which showed both his talents and that of Rhoads to the full. In some respects this album was an even greater success as it showed that the first album was no flash in the pan and without the untimely death of Rhodes the two would surely have gone down in rock history as a legendary pair.

Although the album contains only nine tracks in total they are all fantastic offerings which will leave no fan disappointed. "Over The Mountain" truly shows the talents of Randy Rhoads as he almost brings his guitar to life with god like status! . "Flying High Again" features Ozzy's view on certain party habits which his personal experience of no doubt help to make this another classic track to savour. Other tracks of note include "Tonight" which proves a thoughtful ballad, which shows the true scale of the range that Randy Rhoads could reach. "S.A.T.O." is another vintage offering by Ozzy and is performed as only Ozzy can. What is obvious throughout the album is that Ozzy is truly at his peak and his relationship with his musicians is producing truly legendary performances.

It is clear to everyone that Ozzy can never be classed as a fantastic singer but through the music of albums like this he manages to deliver action packed performances with are bursting with energy and exciting. Truly he is the God Father of Heavy Rock!
