Keep Holding On You could be mistaken for not knowing that Avril Lavigne has actually been around for a few years now in the music industry. Like so many wannabes she has been trying to cut her own slot in the world of pop music. However unlike most wannabes she has over the past few years changed aspects of the managerial side of her performance and taken on the help of close family and friends to finally hit the big time. Whether she can stay there remains to be seen but if she can reproduce the quality and popularity of her current album then she should be able to make it for a good few years yet. Avril is one of those singers who I think you either totally love her or totally hate her. The mix of cheerleading style chanting and enthusiastic sing-along lyrics make her a huge hit with the younger female fans and I dare say a great many of the younger male fans. But for an equal audience she is nothing more than a rebellious young girl. That image is most certainly not helped with some of the lyrics in the album but they are few and far between and parental caution is advised on the labeling. Perhaps in recognition that the majority of her fans will come from the younger age groups. With that said to say she can instill enthusiasm and motivation in the least motivated of people is an underestimation and I can see that in a few years time her tunes will be the ones that are used to encourage overweight 40 something’s to do their best in the aerobics class too loose a few pounds! Girlfriend is a major plus point and a masterstroke being placed as the very first Track. From the beginning the listener is instantly pumped with get up and go and this carries on through the album. Yes there are a few slower tracks but on the whole the album is not one to think about too much. Basically just switch it on and let yourself go to the rhythm!

Avril Lavigne - "The Best Damn Thing", Friday, 14 September 2007 Written by gscs - View all my reviews - #1 Reviewer She has a wonderful voice and she is a punk rock princess. Her album shows how much she has changed since her teens. My favourite from the album are "Girlfriend" - it's a light-hearted song, and slow song "Keep Holding on". I like the song "Everything Back But You", "Best Damn Thing" and like all the rest of the songs in this album. You won't regret buying this album.
