I Believe In You Very little can be said of Kylie that hasn’t already been said before. One thing that may surprise people is that she has now had a singing career that spans nearly 20 years! That is very hard for many people to imagine as it seems only yesterday that the tomboy character Charlene appeared in the hit TV Series neighbours and went on to stardom in the music world with and to a lesser extent her onscreen partner Jason Donovan.
What has made her appealing for all these years when at regular intervals new talent comes along to offer competition. What is that makes Kylie keep coming back with better work and continuing to woo audiences around the world. This album seems to have all the answers to those questions! It contains tracks which span her career to 2004 and charts her rise from teeny bopper to one of the most respected and talented female artists of our time. Through the tracks we see her change her image innumerable times. Creating new styles and themes which always appear to produce the goods. Without thinking she has encompassed that which seems never to adorned many of her contemporaries. That is she is everything to everyone. Men, women, parents grandparents, she appeals to all generations with her performances. This album comes in two discs and the first may seem quite standard in its offerings but remember that the tracks come from an era where pop ruled and hadn’t changed for quite a few years.
The second disc reveals how Kylie played her part in moving pop music foreward to a new level both lyrically and through the use of video technology. She along with very few others used these to full effect and she can rightly take her place as one of the major influences of pop music across the last two decades. Hopefully she will continue to exact change in the next two decades, only time will tell! |
