Fast Cars Very similarly to all the other strangely titled albums from this band over the past 25 years, U2 has been many things to us ranging from young punks, mainstream superstars, political activists, and arena rockers. If we judge them by past progress, we have a fresh slab of U2's musical past. One could say that they have make this album befitting their age. Without trying to meld themselves and their music with the latest trends, U2 have tastefully employed computerised aided tracks with this album. U2 is a band that has always changed there style of music every few albums, which they have not done in this record. If you cannot get enough of U2 then this is the album for you. I'll run though a few of the stand out tracks...
"Vertigo", the first track of the album, is every mush like "Elevation" from All That They Can't Leave Behind. Bono said before the release of this album that The Edge was sounding angry on this record, due to Bono's other work outside the band. Based on this song, possibly more than any other on the album, this is true, with a hugely powerful riff. You will almost certainly have heard this song already (it's been featured heavily in iPod adverts), but it's a great feel good song, and a very strong opening to the album.

Awesome, Sunday, 15 July 2007 Written by DJ Riddler - View all my reviews - Top 50 Reviewer Got to say that this album is probably one of the best and most stunning of all the U2 albums that I have in in my collection! That may sound quite biased having been a fan for over two decades, but I can honestly say that if I had a problem with any aspect of their works I would say so as there is no hiding the truth from true music fans. Although they have produced great albums over the years it has been a while since an album has given me goose bumps all over while made the hair on the back of my neck rise and stay put throughout all of the tracks on the album. I can still remember experiencing the effect from the first time when I listened to The Joshua Tree almost 20 years ago. From the start of the album Vertigo just burst?s with energy and for me is a classic track that only Bono et al could pull off to any degree of efficiency and it really does set the tone for the rest of the album. That?s not to say it is all the high energy, fast tracks because it certainly is not. Tracks such as Sometimes you can?t make it on your own give you some respite to sit and think about issues while composing yourself for another energetic onslaught with tracks like fast cars. Overall it has everything I like about U2 and is also a little different as well which I find quite refreshing and shows they are not just looking to pump out albums safely and wait for the money to roll in, rather they are looking to be innovate and surprise the audience. It really has come to the point where I couldn?t imagine U2 providing a poor offering to the fans. They have become known as one of the most consistent producers of great quality albums which this offering certainly fits into the category. Indeed I would imagine that each and every single on this album would have done well as a single rather than as part of the album. Vertigo has certainly reached great heights and was one of the most instantly recognizable themes on sports TV in the recent past and no doubt joins the long list of tracks such as beautiful day which are sung in strained chords by the young men and women of today. What better tribute than that?
